Compassionate Canines
A group of dedicated Fox Valley volunteer therapy dog teams

Our mission is simple.

Our volunteer therapy dog teams are dedicated to providing comfort, support, and animal
companionship to people of all ages in a variety of settings.

Compassionate Canines was established in 2009 to provide area volunteer therapy dog teams
opportunities for meaningful visits to people served by non-profit organizations in the Fox
Valley.  Compassionate Canines members are dedicated, compassionate volunteers with
registered therapy dogs who visit in a variety of settings.  Their therapy dogs vary in size and
personality but they all have one thing in common:  they are friendly, calm, polite, gentle,
and enjoy attention.
Compassionate Canines volunteers receive no compensation for visits.

Compassionate Canines volunteer therapy dog teams visit in many settings

Compassionate Canine volunteer therapy dog teams visit in many settings. They typically visit
skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, veteran’s homes, schools, libraries, support
groups, hospitals, and hospice residences. However, visits are not limited to these facilities.
Our therapy dog teams are flexible and open to visiting people in nearly any environment,
provided it is safe and secure for all parties involved.

Compassionate Canines volunteer therapy dog teams are registered & insured

All Compassionate Canine volunteer therapy dog teams are registered with a professional
therapy dog organization. The most common therapy dog registration organizations are
Therapy Dogs, Inc
., Delta Society, and Therapy Dogs International. These organizations have
strict health, temperament, and testing requirements and all provide liability insurance to
the registered handler of the therapy dog.
